Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (1918 - November 2, 2004) was the first President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Born in 1918 in the city of Abu Dhabi Palace fort was named after his grandfather, Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, who ruled the emirate of Abu Dhabi since 1855 to 1909.
