Is it really important to plan for your future life and studies? Or should you just take it easy and wait for things to happen to you anyway, and then think of what to do about them? In fact, planning is a very important life skill that you have to develop at an early age as it will be useful not only in your studies, but also in your future adult life. Here are some tips that may help you on how to plan well.

The first step that you should follow is to set short-term and long-term goals and work to achieve them according to a carefully prepared schedule. Short-term goals involve urgent tasks that you have to do sooner rather than later. As a student, you should set your study priorities according to their level of importance and urgency. For instance, you need to decide on how to study for your exams or do your homework for the next few days. As the famous saying puts it, “Don’t postpone till tomorrow what must be done today.” Long-term goals involve things that you have to do over longer periods of time. An example is setting a target for yourself to rank among the top ten students on the country level by the end of the school year or to get a scholarship for a good university after graduating from school.

In an orientation session that our school held at the start of this year, the slogan “Good Planning Is a Prerequisite for Success” was adopted by the organizers of the event. When you think about this statement, you will find that it holds a lot of truth as good planning enables you XXXX to do things the right way and to anticipate mistakes and avoid them. One of the lecturers in that session compared good planning to the headlights of a car on a dark road. He added, “Lack of planning is just like driving on a dark road with the headlights switched off.”

In conclusion, planning is a very useful skill that secures your success in your studies and in your future life. It enables you to do your tasks more effectively and saves your time and effort as well.
