العلم الوطني : تم رفع العلم لأول مرة بعد الاستقلال فى صبيحة يوم 24 نوفمبر 1961 وهو على شكل مستطيل أفقي يساوي ضعفي عرضه ، مقسم الى ثلاثة أقسام أفقية متساوية ، أعلاها الأخضر ، فالأبيض فالأحمر . ويحتوي على شبه منحرف أسود اللون قاعدته الكبرى من جهة اليسار ، مساوية لعرض العلم ، والقاعدة الصغرى مساوية لعرض اللون الأبيض ، وارتفاعه يساوي ربع طول العلم . وقد استوحيت ألوان العلم من بيت شعر عربي للشاعر صفي الدين الحلي وهو

ذكر تقرير إحصائي اعدته وزارة التخطيط أن عدد سكان الكويت بلغ منتصف عام 1999 مليونين و 273 الفا و 719 نسمة ، من بينهم مليون و 389 الفا من الذكور و 232 من الذكور و 884 الفا و 487 من الانـاث .
بلغ عدد الكويتيين 798 الفا و 156 منهم 394 الفا و 499 ذكرا ( بنسبة 64.9% ) بينما بلغ عدد الاناث 403 الاف و 657.
بلغ عدد غير الكويتيين مليونا و 475 الفا و563 ، عدد الذكور بلغ 994 الفا و733 وعدد الاناث 480 الفا و830 ، وينتمى السكان غير الكويتيين الى أكثر من 120 جنسية مختلفة .
بلغ عدد افراد الجالية العربية 552 الفا و 877 ، شكل عدد الذكور 383956 والاناث 168921 .
فيما بلغ عدد أفراد الجاليات غير العربية 800247 عدد الذكور من بينهم بلغ 548512 والاناث 251735 .
وقد عرفت الكويت أول احصاء للسكان فى العام 1957 .
المجتمع المدني
تشكل منظمات المجتمع المدني لبنة أساسية فى بنيان المجتمع الكويتي تحفظ له حيويته وفعاليته . ويوجد حوالي 60 اتحادا او رابطة او جمعية تشكل جسد هذا المجتمع ، بخلاف بضع جمعيات اخرى تحت التأسيس.
تتراوح هذه الجمعيات او الروابط او الاتحادات بين المهنية ، والدينية ، والاقتصادية والاجتماعية والرياضية وحقوق الإنسان وشؤون البيئة . وكلها تتلقى معونة مالية سنوية من وزارة الشؤون الاجتماعية والعمل . وتمارس هذه الجمعيات كافة اشكال الأنشطة بما فيها السياسية برغم ان القانون يحظر ذلك .
الحالة الصحية
يبلغ متوسط العمر فى الكويت 73.9 سنة للذكور 78.7 سنة للإناث . ولا يزيد معدل الوفيات عن عشرين حالة بين كل ألف من السكان فى حين كانت النسبة قبل عشر سنوات حوالي 100 حالة لكل ألف من السكان. ويرجع الفضل فى ذلك الى خطط الرعاية الصحية التى تنفذها الدولة من خلال :

وبالنسبة للقطاع الأهلي ، فانه يمتلك ويدير خمس مستشفيات ، إضافة الى مستشفيين يتبعان شركة نفط الكويت وشركة البترول الوطنية الكويتية . ويبلغ أسرة المستشفيات الست 448 سريرا ، فى حين يبلغ عدد الأطباء 324 طبيبا وعدد أعضاء الهيئة التمريضية 780 ممرضا وممرضة .

هناك هيئة عامة للشباب والرياضة ، تأسست بغرض رعاية الشباب وتأهيلهم للتعامل مع المجتمع وقيادته مستقبلا وتشرف الهيئة على الاندية الرياضية والساحات الشعبية وتنظم المسابقات المختلفة السنوية وفى الأعياد والمناسبات الوطنية . وتنتشر الأندية الرياضية فى كل مناطق الكويت حيث بلغ عددها 20 ناديا ، وتدخل فى منافسات رياضية مع بعضها على كأس امير البلاد وكأس ولي العهد ومنافسات أخرى . وتحظى بعض الفرق الرياضية الكويتية بسمعة طيبة عالميا ، ومنها الفريق الوطني الكويتي لكرة القدم ، وفرق المعوقين ، وفرق السباحة والهوكي وقد فاز الكثير منها بالبطولات الخليجية والعربية والآسيوية ونافس باقتـدار على المستوى الدولي .

The number of non-Kuwaitis million and 475 thousand and 563, the number of males reached 994 thousand and 733 and the number of females 480 thousand and 830, and belongs to the non-Kuwaiti population of more than 120 different nationalities.

Civil society
Civil society organizations are an essential building block in the structure of the Kuwaiti society has kept its vitality and effectiveness. There are about 60 union or association or society constitute the body of this community, unlike a few other societies under construction.
These range from associations or links or associations between occupational, religious, economic, social and sports, human rights and the environment. All of which receive an annual subsidy from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour. The exercise of these associations all forms of activities, including political, although the law prohibits it.
Health status
The average age in Kuwait, 73.9 for males 78.7 years for females. Mortality rate is no more than twenty cases per thousand population, while the proportion was ten years ago, about 100 cases per thousand of the population. And thanks in the health-care plans implemented by the State through:

There is a public body for Youth and Sports, was founded to care and rehabilitation of young people to deal with the community and his leadership in the future and the Board oversees the sports clubs and public squares and organizes various competitions and in the annual festivals and national events. Sports clubs and spread in all areas of Kuwait, where he reached the 20 clubs, and involvement in sports competitions with each cup with the Amir and the Crown Prince Cup and other competitions. And enjoy some sports teams Kuwaiti good reputation globally, including the Kuwaiti national team football, and teams of persons with disabilities, and swimming and hockey teams have won many trophies including the Gulf, Arab, Asian and ably competed at the international level.
