Mother of the Nation Press Release
The celebration of mother's day at Abu Dhabi University was dedicated to honoring the mother of the nation Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak. The event lasted from March 21st to the 25th and among the forums that took place during the celebration was a symposium that will be broadcasted on local channels entitled 'Sheikha Fatima: A Glorious Journey' which was addressed by Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Mansour, H.E. Dr. Maitha Al Shamsi, and H.E. Mrs. Mouza Saeed Ahmed Al Otaiba. They spoke of the great achievements that H.H. Sheikha Fatima has accomplished and the many great vital roles her highness has played in the development of the UAE. They also spoke of how Her Highness is an ideal role model for so many women in the UAE and the Arab world. All week long an artistic exhibition in the main entrance showcased traditional handcrafts, paintings, and artistic products by ADU student’s themselves.
March 24th a forum with guest speaker Mrs. Khulood Al Dhaheri who is the first female judge appointed in the UAE. She shared with the audience the experience she gained on her journey as she went through law school, dedicated 8 years to her career as a lawyer and the moment of truth, when she heard her appointment as the first female judge in the UAE.
Ending the week was the closing of the celebration that had, a poetry competition that was dedicated to Her Highness by ADU students, a drama sketch that highlights the role of Emirati woman in the huge development of the UAE, and the famous kid’s corner with face painting, cotton candy, and load of traditional family activities.
